The translation of humulus lupus means Earth Wolf, where it is said to grow wild among the willows, like wolf among the sheep. 

Hops is well regarded as a sleep aid, having strong sedative nervine qualities. Because of this, It's great for overstimulated and hyperactive states.  
Hops is bitter and tonifies the gut, it can also be beneficial for indigestion, reflux and gastrointestinal cramps.
Hops has a tonifying action on the gut. It is a diuretic, anxiolytic, sedating and antispasmodic herb.
